My name is Rejoice Nadit. I was born in Narus, South Sudan but have traveled to other places like Nairobi, Kenya, Kigali, Rwanda and I am currently studying in Georgia, United States of America. I am a first-generation student at Agnes Scott College planning to double major in public Health and Economics.

I find joy in working with peers and improving my leadership skills. Growing up, I have always valued excellence and community-centered leadership which has broadened my ambitions. For example, as a Peer Counselor in high school, I helped my classmates who struggled emotionally to seek help and find a community. I worked to create a safe space that encouraged everyone to be vulnerable and help one another. From this experience, I learned to recognize my own challenges, tackle them, and appreciate the people around me.

Furthermore, I am always interested to work towards innovative ideas that benefit the community. I designed and led a science project to develop our school’s simple boiler. My friend and I used the skills we learned in physics class to build a boiler to help provide hot bathing water. This experience taught me that initiating a change does not require a lot of money; my willingness and effort itself will help change the world into a better place.

Finally, I am passionate about women’s empowerment and justice. Growing up, I never recognized my voice as a girl nor the potential hidden within me because of societal expectations. I dream of a space where girls and women can unapologetically be themselves and am excited to work towards creating that space. During my free time, I like braiding and styling hair, cooking, chatting with friends, and taking evening walks. I am excited to see where my journey at Agnes Scott takes me!
